HYDE PARK — Bret Harte Elementary School will go into the school year looking for a new principal.

Former Principal Shenethe Parks left the school, 1556 E. 56th St., over the summer to take a job as deputy chief of schools for Network Three, according to CPS.

The job moves her to the far West Side and brings in Charles Bright to fill in as interim principal until the local school council can pick a replacement.

Bright, a former assistant principal at Mahalia Jackson Elementary School, is not unfamiliar with Bret Harte and served an internship at the school two years ago when he was preparing to become a principal.

Assistant Principal Meghan Fido will remain at the school.
