NORWOOD PARK — The owners of AcuBalance Wellness Center, 6015 N. Nina Ave., unveiled a new yoga studio expansion to their clinic on Friday, doubling its footprint in the heart of Old Norwood Park.

Eight years after opening their home for Eastern and herbal remedies, co-owners Vera Kulezic and Ausra Januseviciute eyed the adjacent storefront when the previous tenant, Nice Card Company, moved out earlier this year, they said.

The 1,200 square foot expansion will host classes featuring six different yoga styles taught by seven instructors. Classes range from low-intensity "slow flow" sessions to more rigorous vinyasa courses.

While more intensive yoga practices like CorePower have become trendy in recent years, the meditation and acupuncture specialists wanted their classes to focus more directly on the "mind, body and spirit," Kulezic said.

"Yoga is a nice complement to our medicine because it's this kind of gentle thing that focuses on breath and helps you reserve energy, instead of expending it," Kulezic said. "It's great to have our patients pop in for treatment, but then be able to do something with it, instead of just going about their busy lives."

A full schedule of yoga classes is available online.
