NORTH CENTER — Calling all green thumbs.

The nonprofit group GROWCommunity, which supports and promotes neighborhood schools on the North Side, is looking for volunteers to help plan a fall gardening work day at Amundsen and Lake View high schools.

A planning meeting is being held 5:45-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln Ave. Click here to RSVP for the meeting.

The scope of the the work day, scheduled for Oct. 21, is still up in the air but neighbors likely will be invited to plant flower bulbs at Lake View and spruce up Amundsen's vegetable plot, according to Sarah Makela, executive director of GROWCommunity.
