
CHICAGO — A group of four men armed with handguns are robbing people in Brighton Park, according to police.
At least nine people have been robbed by the group since Friday, police said in a community alert.
In the incidents, the group walks up to people in the street and demand their belongings, police said. Every incident has been early in the morning and the robberies occurred nearly simultaneously, according to the police report.
The reported incidents include:
• 4:30 a.m. Friday in the 4400 block of South Talman Avenue
• 5:09 a.m. Friday in the 3800 block of South Albany Avenue
• 5:15 a.m. Friday in the 2600 block of West 38th Street
• 5:21 a.m. Friday in the 1600 block of West 46th Street
• 6:25 a.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of West 38th Place
• 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 3300 block of West 38th Place
• 6:30 a.m.-6:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 4400 block of South Campbell Avenue
• 6:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of West 42nd Place
• 6:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 5200 block of South Mozart Street
Police have described the robbers as four black men, aged 16 to 20 years, standing around 5-feet-10 and weighing around 160 pounds. They were seen wearing hooded sweatshirts with bandanas covering their faces, were armed with handguns and were driving a grey or white SUV, police said.
