RAVENSWOOD MANOR — In response to recent violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, neighbors in Ravenswood Gardens and Ravenswood Manor are planning a children's peace march on Friday "to spread light and love in our community," according to organizers.

The "Lights for Love" march will step off at 7 p.m. Friday at the corner of Wilson and Virginia avenues, on the east side of the Chicago River in Ravenswood Gardens. Participants will cross the Wilson Avenue bridge and wind their way to the Ravenswood Manor Park playground.

Children and adults are encouraged to bring flashlights, glow sticks or candles.

In the event invitation, organizer Cara Sullivan posted: "The idea is for kids all over Chicago to walk through their neighborhoods, lights in hand, to show their communities how amazing and powerful and important they are, how beautiful our world can be, and that above all else, love, not hate, is the answer."
