Man Robbed At Gunpoint Midday On 62nd Street In Woodlawn Thursday

WOODLAWN —  A man was robbed at gunpoint Thursday afternoon in Woodlawn, according to University of Chicago police.

The department put out an alert Thursday after a man was robbed at 1 p.m. in the 1000 block of East 62nd Street.

According to university police, the man was approached by the robber, who asked for a cigarette before pulling out a handgun and robbing him

The man handed over his wallet and a GPS device, and then the robber ran south down the alley east of Ellis Avenue.

University police reported no injuries and did not provide a description of the robber.

The Chicago Police Department is investigating.
