OAKLAND — Two men are putting people in a choke hold and robbing them, according to police.

The Chicago Police Department on Monday sent out a community alert warning Oakland residents that there have been reports twice in August of men attacking and robbing people in the neighborhood.

In both incidents, police said the men came up behind someone and one man put the person in a choke hold while the other stole their belongings.

The first incident happened at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 4400 block of South Cottage Grove Ave.

The second reported robbery was at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East 42nd Place.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8380.
