CHICAGO — Rapper Katie Got Bandz is out of jail after being arrested this week.
The rapper, whose name is Kiara Johnson, was originally arrested in May. A warrant was issued for her arrest and she was taken into custody again on Monday in suburban Bridgeview.
Johnson was charged with multiple counts of identity theft and unlawful possession of a credit card, a Cook County State's Attorney's Office spokeswoman said. Her bail was set at $50,000.
After being released Wednesday, she sent out a string of tweets where she said she was "fighting a case for not telling on" someone.
"I'm innocent," Johnson tweeted. "F--- the state."
The rapper also said she would release a mixtape titled, "Free Katie."
Johnson, who grew up in Bronzeville, has been called the queen of Chicago's drill music scene. She's known for songs like "Pop Out."
