CHICAGO — Shootings have killed two people and wounded nine since Tuesday, police said.

• At 2:24 a.m. Wednesday, a 48-year-old man was shot to death while walking outside in West Town.

• At 10:37 p.m. Tuesday, a 28-year-old man was gunned down during a mass shooting in Bronzeville. Five women and another man were wounded in the attack.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 2:43 a.m. Wednesday, a 27-year-old man was shot in South Shore, police said. The man was smoking a cigarette outside in the 1600 block of East 79th Street when a group of people walked up to him and one of them took out a knife.

The people chased the man, and he took out a knife to defend himself, police said. One of the pursuers took out a gun and shot the man.

The man was hit in his leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man is a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in Englewood, police said. The boy was in the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue, walking through Ogden Park, when he heard shots and felt pain.

The boy was shot in his buttocks and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 9:22 p.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in Calumet Heights, police said. The man was standing in an alley in the 9200 block of South Harper Avenue when several people walked up to him and someone fired shots.

The man was shot in his right leg and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
