5 Cars Stolen From Hyde Park Since Mid-July, Police Say

CHICAGO — Cars have been stolen from Hyde Park at least five times since mid-July, police warned.

Police suggested people not leave their keys inside their cars, warn their neighbors about their thefts and pay attention to "suspicious" people loitering outside, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The thefts occurred:

• 9-9:45 a.m. July 18 in the 5400 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard

• 2:30-4:55 p.m. July 18 in the 5400 block of South Cornell Avenue

• 9 a.m. July 19 in the 5500 block of South Cornell Avenue

• 10:30 p.m. Thursday-7:58 a.m. Friday in the 5500 block of South Lake Park Avenue

• 3:15-6 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of East 55th Street

No description of the thief or thieves was immediately available.
