Human Links Needed For Mile-Long Prayer Chain Planned For 63rd Street

WOODLAWN — Activists are trying to get 4,000 people to link arms on nearly a mile of 63rd Street on Aug. 5 in protest of violence on the South Side.

The human chain will start linking up from Stony Island Avenue to Martin Luther King Drive at 11 a.m., with in a prayer in unison at noon.

The event is being organized by No Shots Fired, a Woodlawn organization working to reduce violent crime in the neighborhood.

Gathering points will be on 63rd Street at Dorchester, University and Maryland avenues.
