THE GAP — A string of robberies attributed to a group of boys and young men in Bronzeville continues, with three new instances reported by police.

A group of five boys tried to steal Jill Bradley’s car in the 3600 block of South Martin Luther King Drive on July 15, but were thwarted when they couldn’t figure out the keyless ignition. A similar group is now believed to be behind three other robberies that happened around the same time.

The boys did not threaten Bradley with a weapon, but police said victims in the three newly reported robberies said their attackers had weapons.

All three robberies shortly preceded Bradley’s incident, including a robbery at 1:50 a.m. July 12 in the 3100 block of South Michigan Avenue and a 7:15 a.m. robbery July 14 in the 3400 block of South Giles Avenue. There was a third robbery at 1:40 p.m. July 14 in the 3100 block of South Indiana Avenue.

Police said the robberies were committed by a group of boys and young men between the ages of 14 and 20 years old.

No arrests have been made, according to police.
