2nd Dan Ryan Shooting In 2 Days Leaves 4 People Wounded

CHICAGO — A shooting on the Dan Ryan left four people wounded late Friday.

The shooting is the second on the Dan Ryan in two days and the 29th shooting on an expressway this year. Three people were wounded in a shooting on the expressway early Friday.

At 11:53 p.m. Friday, five people were inside a car on the Stevenson Expy. when a white SUV pulled alongside them just as they were about to get onto the Dan Ryan, according to a State Police news release.

Someone in the white SUV fired shots, hitting three people, police said.

The driver was shot in his or her leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A passenger was shot in his or her neck and another passenger was shot in his or her hand. A fourth passenger was hit by broken glass, and the fifth passenger was not hurt, police said. Everyone was taken to Stroger Hospital.

At 1:57 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to I-57 at Wentworth Avenue for a report of someone's car being shot, police said. The driver was not hit by gunfire, but his or her car was struck several times.

No one was in custody.
