CHINATOWN — Police are looking for a man who they said attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl in Chinatown Tuesday.

The girl was walking around 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West 24th Place when a man driving a black SUV approached from behind and asked if she needed a ride, police said in a community alert.

The girl declined his offer, but the man then told the girl to get in the car, police said. She ran away, and the man turned left onto Wallace Avenue heading northbound toward Archer Avenue, according to police.

The driver is believed to be a heavyset white man with fair complexion, green eyes and blonde stubble, according to police. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with a red brim. His car is a large black SUV, possibly a Cadillac, with tinted windows and silver trim, police said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8380.
