LOGAN SQUARE — Quiote, the multilevel Mexican restaurant/bar that opened earlier this year, has added a full lineup of handmade paletas to its menu.

The paletas — Mexican popsicles made with fresh fruit — debut Tuesday and will be available at Quiote's front counter 9 a.m. until close six days a week.

There will be six core flavors and six rotating flavors — all made with seasonal ingredients from local farms.

The current menu includes mango chamoy with tajin, strawberry buttermilk, avocado strawberry with grapefruit, burnt honey with coconut and sesame, lemon froyo with mixed berries, cheesecake with pasilla chiles, banana berry, blueberries n’ cream, mint chocolate chip, rainbow sherbet, blueberry sorbet and chocolate horchata.

Quiote, 2456 N. California Ave., functions as a sit-down restaurant, mezcaleria, tacqueria and coffee bar, depending on the time of day.

For chef/owner Dan Salls and his team, getting into the paleta game was a no-brainer.

“This is a super fun way to continue to showcase the incredible ingredients we have been cooking with over the past six months,” Salls sad in a prepared statement. “These paletas are something special.”
