Lincoln Park Attempted Abduction Of Teen Girl Leads To Police Warning

By Ted Cox | July 18, 2017 9:34am

LINCOLN PARK — A man tried to lure a 14-year-old girl into his car at 4:45 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of North Orchard Street, police said.

According to police, a man in a white SUV pulled up next to the girl as she walked down the street and asked if she wanted a ride. The girl ran away and the man drove off, police said.

The suspect was identified as a white Hispanic man between ages 34-42 with brown hair, light-brown complexion and triangular facial tattoos. He was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap, gray T-shirt and blue jeans.

It's the second reported attempt to lure a child into a car in Lincoln Park this month. In the first case, a driver tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into a car on the 1300 block of West Fullerton Avenue on July 12, police said. The man was driving a brown or gold two-door car.

Police advised local residents to call 911 to report any suspicious people, cars or activity.

Children should not play alone, and should take note of safe havens going to and from home, police said, adding that everyone should be aware of his or her surroundings.
