LOGAN SQUARE — Police are searching for a man who sexually abused a 9-year-old girl in a Logan Square grocery store Monday afternoon and ran away.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m., according to a police alert issued Tuesday evening.

Police said the girl was in a grocery store in the 3600 block of West Fullerton Avenue — the block where Tony's Finer Foods is located — when an unknown man came up to her and squeezed her buttocks.

A relative of the girl confronted the man, who then ran away, according to police.

Police describe the man as Latino, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, with a light complexion, black hair and brown eyes.

He was wearing a white baseball cap, a light-colored T-shirt that read, "A Better World," dark pants and white shoes, according to police.

Grocery store officials could not immediately be reached.

Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 312-492-3810.
