HYDE PARK — It’s a good time to catch a movie outside, with several outdoor showings on the south lakefront this week.

“Apollo 18,” “Moana,” “The Secret Lives of Pets,” “Race” and “Madea’s Tough Love” are all showing for free this week in parks around the neighborhood.

The week starts with a showing of “Apollo 18” at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Beach, 3900 S. Lake Shore Drive.

The screenings continue Wednesday with a 7 p.m. showing of “Moana” on the Midway Plaisance, 1130 Midway Plaisance North.

“Secret Lives of Pets” will screen at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Kenwood Park, 1330 E. 50th St.

A little farther south, “Race” will be shown at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Rainbow Beach, 3111 E. 71st St.

The DuSable Museum of African American History, 740 E. 56th Place, ends the week with a 7:30 p.m. showing Saturday of “Madea’s Tough Love.”

“The Lego Batman Movie” will be screened at 8:15 p.m. July 29 at Kennicott Park, 4434 S. Lake Park Ave.
