LINCOLN SQUARE — The outdoor tennis season just got a little shorter at one Chicago park.

The nets are down and the construction fences are up at River Park, 5100 N. Francisco Ave., where the courts were closed as of July 5.

After some much needed TLC, the courts, which have been showing signs of wear and tear, are expected to reopen in mid-August, according to notices posted by the Chicago Park District.

For those inspired by Wimbledon to work on their tennis game, the Park District suggests practicing your serve and volley at nearby courts in Legion Park, Horner Park or Welles Park.
