CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer was beaten Wednesday night while trying to stop people from gathering in the street near Washington Park, police said.
At 9:30 p.m., officers saw a group of people in the street interrupting drivers and blocking the sidewalk in the 6100 block of South King Drive. The officers tried to move the people.
Several people became "combative," police said, and got into a fight with the officers. One officer was hit while trying to stop someone, but his injuries were minor, police said.
Four people were taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest, reckless conduct and battery to an officer, police said.
