CHICAGO — A one-year-old boy was listed in serious condition after falling from a third-floor window in Woodlawn early Monday afternoon, police said.
At 12:50 p.m., the boy "accidentally fell" from the window of an apartment complex in the 800 block of East 65th Street and landed in bushes, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was "serious but guarded," Estrada said.
The incident remains under investigation, Estrada said.
Last year, more than 2,600 citations were issued citywide for unsafe windows, about a 26 percent surge from 2015, according to building department officials.
