UPTOWN — Three Truman College students have received full-ride scholarships to Northwestern University.

Tony Tran and Nadeem Patel and Naeem Patel are all graduates of Northside College Prep, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave., and were named Chicago STAR Scholars in the program that "provides a no-cost education to qualified Chicago Public Schools high school graduates," according to City Colleges of Chicago.

Jada DeJesus, of Wilbur Wright College, is also a Chicago STAR Scholar and will join the Truman students at Northwestern, where she's pursuing a master's degree in international business.

The program, which was introduced in 2014 by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and City Colleges of Chicago, covers the cost of tuition and books to students with a 3.0 grade point average and "tested completion-ready in math and English," according to City Colleges.

Northwestern University is one of 15 universities and colleges providing financial, academic and advising support to STAR scholars planning to transfer and earn a bachelor's degree, City Colleges announced.
