NORTH CENTER — After a three-year run, the barbecue joint Ravenswood Q called it quits in April and has been replaced by Colombian eatery Jirafa restaurant and bar, which opened earlier in June.
Menu items range from empanadas and stuffed plantain balls to grilled steak and honeycomb tripe soup. Combo platters, designed for sharing, include grilled meats, sausage, plantains and corn cakes. A monster milkshake defies description.
Jirafa, 1800 W. Irving Park Road, is open Tuesday through Sunday. A lunch special is offered for $7.99, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On the bar side, Jirafa's beer "tower" comes in 67- and 101-ounce sizes.
