Lincoln Square Burglars Taking Advantage Of Open Windows, Doors

LINCOLN SQUARE — Lincoln Square is often cited as one of the safest neighborhoods in the city, but police are reminding residents they still need to take basic precautions against crime.

In a pair of recent residential burglaries, thieves gained easy access to homes through unlocked windows and doors, according to a community alert issued by the Lincoln Police District.

The incidents occurred:

• Between 4 p.m. June 16 and 10 a.m. June 17 in the 1900 block of West Winona Avenue

• between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday in the 4900 block of North Hoyne Avenue
