HYDE PARK — A University of Chicago staff member was pushed off a bike and robbed under the Metra tracks Thursday.

The staffer was riding under the Metra tracks on 55th Street at Lake Park Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Thursday when a blue Honda CRV pulled up next to the rider and a person in the car leaned out the window and pushed the staffer off the bike, according to a university security alert.

The person in the car then took the staffer’s backpack and drove off south on Cornell Avenue, according to the alert.

The staffer was not injured, according to university police.

The Chicago Police Department is investigating.
