CHICAGO — A 12-year-old boy is among three juveniles who have been charged with attempted murder in an incident where Chicago Police say officers were shot at.

At 8:04 p.m. Monday, officers were in the 3100 block of West 13th Street when someone fired shots at them from a car, police said. The suspected attackers drove away in a car, and police pursued the car onto I-55.

Officers stopped the car and took three people into custody in the 3700 block of South Pulaski Road, police said. No injuries were reported.

Police said the three people were inside a car that had been stolen from suburban Forest Park on Sunday, and after searching one of the people they found a "controlled substance."

Two 17-year-olds and the 12-year-old, whose names have not been released because they were juveniles, were charged and were scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court on Wednesday.

The three have been charged with two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, two counts of aggravated discharge of a gun at a police officer, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated possession of a stolen car, police said.

One of the 17-year-olds was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and fleeing police, and the other 17-year-old was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, police said.
