ROGERS PARK — A man has been charged with allegedly shooting two people in Rogers Park just after midnight Friday, including a 64-year-old woman who was hit by a stray bullet through her window as she slept.

Clarence Dunner, 37, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery and unlawful discharge of a firearm, as well as one felony count of attempted first degree murder, according to Chicago Police.

Around 12:40 a.m. Friday, a 42-year-old man was standing in an alley in the 1600 block of West Jonquil Terrace when Dunner allegedly walked up to him, took out a gun and fired shots, police said. The man ran away while police say Dunner continued to shoot.

A bullet crashed through the window of the 64-year-old woman's home and struck her in the arm.

The woman had just gone to bed when she was hit, her relatives said.

"She was on her bed and she was leaning on her right arm and she heard the shooting and next thing you know she said her arm went numb and blood just started coming out everywhere," her daughter told WGN News.

She was taken to St. Francis hospital but was back home recovering later Friday, family said.

The man was hit in his back and twice in his buttocks and also taken to St. Francis Hospital, where his condition was not available but he were listed as "stable," police said.

Police initially said a gun was found and a person was in custody with charges pending.

By Friday evening announced Dunner, of the 900 Block of North Laramie Avenue in Austin, as the suspect in custody for the shootings.

The block has seen several shootings in the past, including in 2015 when a man was shot just steps from the Gale Elementary's community garden.
