BEVERLY — Cork & Kerry in Beverly will be serving "Man-Mimosas" starting at 3 p.m. June 18 — Father's Day.

The tavern at 10614 S. Western Ave. is partnering with the Guinness & Co. for the promotion. The specialty drink is described as a pairing of Guinness and champagne.

The beer company also recommends the combination served in a champagne flute on its website, but instead calls it the Guinness Black Velvet.

The beverage is described as being a, "curiously silky, velvety drink where the effervescence and dry biscuit notes of sparkling wine provide a curious coupling with Guinness Extra Stout."

"The story goes that Guinness Extra Stout and champagne were first combined to mark Prince Albert’s death in 1861, when the steward at Brook’s Club in London ordered that even the champagne should be in mourning — dressed all in black," according to the Guinness website.

Besides the man-mimosas, the bar will also be promoting Guinness Blonde throughout the day and giving away several prizes including a new grill.

"We will have live music in our beer garden during this time too. Come hang and show dad your appreciation for all he does," Cork & Kerry wrote on its Facebook page.
