CHICAGO — Police are warning Irving Park residents after a man tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his van Friday morning.

Police said the girl was walking in the 4100 block of North Richmond Street when the man pulled up in a van and motioned for her to come toward him. Instead, the girl ran away and reported the incident, police said.

The man is described as white, in his 20s, wearing a white tank top with short light hair, a tattoo of a cross on his forehead and a tattoo sleeve on his left arm. He was driving a full size burgundy or dark red van with rust and a dent on the driver's side.
