LINCOLN SQUARE — Politics doesn't have to be a conversation killer.

That's the premise of a public forum, "How NOT To Avoid 'Talking Politics,'" which will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sulzer Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.

Experts will discuss ways to remain engaged with friends and family who hold opposing views and will share strategies on navigating difficult topics with civility and respect.

Speakers will be Shawn Healy, director of the McCormick Foundation's Democracy Program, and Sarah Shields, from the nonprofit Facing History and Ourselves, which promotes a more informed citizenry.

The event is free and open to all.
