CHICAGO — Burglars have hit apartments in the Irving Park area three times this month, police said.
During the burglaries, the thieves got into first-floor apartments by entering through a window, according to a Chicago Police community alert.
The burglaries occurred:
• 11 a.m. May 2-5 p.m. May 5 in the 4200 block of North Spaulding Avenue
• Noon-3 p.m. May 8 in the 3200 block of North Karlov Avenue
• 7:10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 12 in the 3500 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue
There was no description of the thief or thieves, police said.
People should make sure their doors and windows are locked when leaving their homes, police said, and should have a working alarm system if possible. Only "trusted family members or friends" should be told if you're leaving town, police said.
