NORTH LAWNDALE — A Humboldt Park man has been charged in the attack of a 21-year-old woman on a CTA bus in February, police said.

Christopher Gates, of the 400 block of North Harding Avenue, faces one felony count of aggravated battery to a transit passenger and one felony count of unlawful restraint, according to a police alert issued Wednesday.

Police said Gates and the 21-year-old woman were both on a bus in Lawndale around 9 a.m. Feb. 3 when Gates put his hand on the woman's buttocks.

When the woman got off the bus, the man followed her, grabbed her from behind and then tried to pull her into an empty lot in the 3600 block of West Ogden Avenue, according to police. The woman was able to fight him off and call authorities.

Police arrested Gates Wednesday. He is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
