CHICAGO — Attila the pitbull has been reunited with his Albany Park family after going missing.

Attila, a red-nose pitbull, went missing Wednesday, worrying owner Taylor Brickman, her fiancee, Allen, and their kids. The pup has been with the Brickmans since he was 8 weeks old, and the family was getting ready for his first birthday next month.

On Wednesday, Brickman's fiancee noticed the home's door open when he stopped by during the day, but Attila was home. When he came back later the door was open again and Attila was gone.

"I cried a lot," said Taylor Brickman, who lives in Ohio but visits her fiancee and Attila every other weekend. "He was like a child to us. And we have three kids together that the dog loves and it's like [they're] his brothers and sisters."

The family put up fliers with information about Attila and scoured the area.

A police officer found Attila and got in contact with the Brickmans, reuniting the family over the weekend.

"Attila was so happy," Taylor Brickman wrote on Facebook. "Our kids were so ecstatic! Our [10-year-old] said, 'Now I don't have to cry 'cause you're gone anymore!'

"Attila is currently laying like a bum across a bed and we cuddled him a bunch. Thank you again to everyone!"
