Gun-Toting Robbers Hit 2 North Side Stores Minutes Apart, Police Say

CHICAGO — Robbers held up two North Side stores at gunpoint on Sunday night, police said.

During the robberies, three men walked into the businesses, took out a gun and said they were robbing the store, police said.

They stole money, cigarettes and liquor in one robbery. During another robbery, one of the men fired a shot at someone, but no one was injured.

The robberies occurred:

• 10:30-11 p.m. in the 3800 block of North Western Avenue in North Center

11:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of North Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park

The thieves were described as three black men who were 20 to 30 years old, police said. They were 5-foot-5 to 6-feet tall and weighed 160 to 190 pounds. They wore ski masks, black hats, jackets and pants.

During one of the robberies, the men escaped in a silver four-door car with a possible license plate starting with US and including the numbers 117, police said.
