HUMBOLDT PARK — Humboldt Park residents will march down Chicago Avenue this weekend to rally against gun violence and show compassion for victims.

Now in its sixth year, the annual "Compassion Parade" starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chicago Avenue and Pulaski Road.

The group, which traditionally includes neighbors, dance teams, as well as local organizations and businesses, will travel eastbound on Chicago Avenue and end at Kedzie Avenue around noon.

According to organizers, the rally is for "spreading love, standing up for change, empowering youth, taking a stand to end senseless shootings & killings, & remembering those whose lives have been claimed as a result of the violence."

All are welcome to participate in the rally, which is organized by resident Latasha Glasper.
