LINCOLN SQUARE — Someone is walking around with a winning $5 million lottery ticket, sold last week at a Mobil gas station at the corner of Lawrence and California avenues, according to the Illinois Lottery.
The mystery millionaire, who has yet to come forward, matched five non-Mega Ball numbers in Friday's drawing — 5, 10, 55, 60 and 73 — and also purchased a "Megaplier" for an extra dollar, which quintupled the winning prize.
The winner of the ticket is encouraged to immediately sign the back of the ticket and "keep it in a safe place" before presenting it at one of the lottery's prize centers in Chicago, Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield or Fairview Heights.
The winner has one year from the drawing date to claim the prize.
The Mobil station, 2800 W. Lawrence Ave., will receive a $50,000 bonus — 1 percent of the lottery prize — for selling the winning ticket.
