GRAND BOULEVARD — There will be an egg hunt for kids on April 9 in Armstrong Park, so far the only Chicago Park District-sponsored Easter event on the south lakefront.

The egg hunt for kids ages three to 12 will start at 2 p.m. April 9 at Lillian Harding Armstrong Park, 4433 S. St. Lawrence Ave.

Though there are more than 20 egg hunt and other Easter events across the city sponsored by the Chicago Park District, the Armstrong Park egg hunt will be the only one available to many on the south lakefront.

The egg hunt is sponsored by Ald. Pat Dowell (3rd), Bright Star Church, Glorious Light Church and New Community Covenant Church.

Other churches in the surrounding communities will also be sponsoring their own egg hunts for their congregations.

St. Thomas The Apostle, 5472 S. Kimbark Ave., will host an egg hunt after its 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on April 16. St. Paul and the Redeemer, 4945 S. Dorchester Ave., will also host an egg hunt after its 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services. Other churches are also expected to host egg hunts.

A full list of Chicago Park District-sponsored egg hunts and Easter activities is available on its web site.
