WRIGLEY FIELD — It's one week before the Chicago Cubs' home opener at Wrigley Field, and the club is detailing new food choices available this year — including several neighborhood favorite with globally inspired menu items.
Celebrated Chicago chefs will put their name on fresh food options, while others are returning to Wrigley Field for a new season of fan favorites. A guest chef series is slated to begin in June, with more details coming later this spring.
Elaborate hot dogs at the Sheffield Counter, al pastor chicken tacos and brown sugar-coated bacon bites are among the freshly added menu items.
As part of the off-season renovations, the Cubs added an 8,870-square-foot kitchen and commissary space, which Wrigley Field's top chef called a "game changer."
"We really focused on adding diverse flavors, super fresh ingredients and creative new dishes to our menus, blending the best of Chicago's food culture and restaurants," said David Burns, executive chef for Levy, Wrigley's hospitality partner.
It's the first year Cub fans can get Wicker Park's Pork & Mindy's at the ballpark. Following a December deal to open a Pork & Mindy's concession stand at Wrigley, the barbecue company will serve up several dishes from Platform 14 in the Budweiser Bleachers.

Among them are a buffalo chicken sandwich topped with gorgonzola and ranch dressing, a pulled pork sandwich served on a bao bun and brown sugar-coated "Pig Candy" bacon bites.
The bao sandwich will also be available at the Marquee Classics stand, which will open in June near home plate on the main concourse.
The Hot Doug's brand will be back in the Budweiser Bleachers, with a rotating selection of Cub alum-inspired sausages.
Buona Beef will serve Italian beef sandwiches from both Platform 14 and a combo cart in the right field concourse. Giordano's will also have a new stand near Aisle 102-104.

At Sheffield Counter along right field, hot dogs will come topped with crisp pork belly, pickled ginger aioli and Korean kimchi. The Pilsen dog features roasted corn and lime cilantro aioli, while a Bao Wao dog has pickled daikon and carrot, sriracha aioli, cilantro and mint.
The healthy-minded can chow down on a grilled chicken sandwich topped with a sweet chili glaze, Asian slaw and sautéed pineapple.
Above the marquee, fans can find a "decadent" grilled cheese sandwich made with house-smoked brisket and caramelized onions at the Marquee Grill on the terrace level.

A new Jim Beam patio and its signature bar will serve up cocktails made with Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, EFFEN Vodka, Cruzan Rum and Hornitos Tequila.
Other drinks include craft cocktails inspired by the bar Billy Sunday in Logan Square, which will be available in the bleachers and Sheffield Counter.
