DOWNTOWN — Sen. Bernie Sanders will headline the People's Summit this summer.
Sanders, a University of Chicago alumnus, gained national attention while pushing progressive policies as a presidential candidate. He'll give the keynote gathering at the second People's Summit and is expected to focus on "moving beyond resistance to ... building a broad people's movement for a just world," according to the event's website.
Sanders drew large crowds in Chicago while campaigning. He showed support for the Chicago Teachers Union and his campaign put the spotlight on job losses at the Nabisco plant in Marquette Park.
Sanders is expected to be joined by filmmaker Michael Moore, actor/director Danny Glover and activist writer Shaun King, among others, at the People's Summit.
The People's Summit is June 9-11 at McCormick Place. Registration will be available online starting April 15.
