RAVENSWOOD MANOR — A police chase ended Friday night with a pair of male suspects bailing on their stolen vehicle and jumping into the Chicago River to elude law enforcement, according to police.

The incident occurred at 11:15 p.m. Friday in the 2800 block of West Leland Avenue.

Canine units, the police department's helicopter and marine units and the Chicago Fire Department were all called in to assist in the search for the 21-year-old suspects, who were eventually pulled from the water and arrested, according to information provided by Police News Affairs and Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris of the Albany Park (17th) District.

The suspects were taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where they are being treated for hypothermia, police said.

Voulgaris posted details of the incident to the Ravenswood Manor Facebook page.

According to his account, officers initially came across the two men fighting with another individual on Albany Avenue.

"As the officers attempted to intervene, the two offenders jumped in their car and fled to 2800 W. Leland where they both jumped into the river to flee from the police," Voulgaris said. "The vehicle they were in was stolen."

According to News Affairs, the suspects also hit a parked car before fleeing on foot.
