CHICAGO — An Indianapolis man who took Megabus to bring at least 29 guns to sell to gang members from a West Side porch was sentenced Friday to two years in prison, authorities said.

Willie Lee Biles Jr., 44, was convicted in May of making multiple trips from Indiana to Chicago on the bus with a gym bag full of handguns he legally purchased in Indiana, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Biles came to Chicago an unspecified number of times in the fall of 2013, the Justice Department said.

Biles sat on a front porch on the West Side and sell the guns for two to three times the price that he had paid for them, according to federal authorities.

In at least one case, Biles sold a gun to a convicted felon who could not own one, officials said.

That convicted felon was Otto Lewellen, of suburban Bellwood, who last year plead guilty to one count of a felon in possession of a firearm.

As part of a plea deal, Lewellen told authorities that he had bought four guns from Biles. Lewellen told authorities he sold two of those guns to a man, and those guns were later recovered by police.

Biles faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

The Sun-Times reported that U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis said she would have sentenced Biles to five years in prison but did not because Biles suffers from renal disease and may require a kidney transplant.
