CHICAGO — An Indianapolis man who took Megabus to bring guns from Indiana to sell to gang members from a West Side porch has been found guilty of dealing firearms without a license, according to authorities.

Willie Lee Biles Jr., 44, was charged after authorities said he made multiple trips to Chicago on the bus with a gym bag full of handguns he legally purchased in Indiana, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.

Biles came to Chicago an unspecified number of times in the fall of 2013, the Justice Department said.

He would get to Chicago and then sit on a front porch on the West Side and sell the guns for two to three times the price that he had paid for them, the Justice Department said.

Biles did not have the authority to sell the guns, and in at least one case he sold a gun to a convicted felon who could not own one.

That convicted felon was Otto Lewellen, of suburban Bellwood, who last year plead guilty to one county of a felon in possession of a firearm.

As part of a plea deal, Lewellen told authorities that he had bought four guns from Biles. Lewellen told authorities he sold two of those guns to a man, and those guns were later recovered by police.

Biles brought at least 30 handguns to Chicago, authorities said. Seven of those guns were later recovered by officers in and around Chicago.

A jury convicted Biles on Wednesday of willfully dealing firearms without a license, according to the Justice Department. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

He will be sentenced on Nov. 16, the Justice Department said.
