BELMONT CRAGIN — Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a 14-year-old girl in Belmont Cragin four separate times this month.
Around 7:50 a.m. Friday a 14-year-old girl was walking to school in the 5000 block of West Palmer Street when the man started following the girl and tried to talk to her, according to a Chicago police alert.
The girl kept walking and told the man she would call the police. The man then stopped following her and headed northbound down Leclaire Avenue.
Upon further investigation, detectives discovered the man had also tried to lure the girl in the mornings of March 8, 9 and 10 in the 2400 block of North Laramie Avenue.
In each incident, the man, who was either sitting in a parked car or on foot, tried to lure her by talking to the girl. The girl ignored the man and kept walking.
Police described the suspect as either a white or Hispanic man with a heavy build between 40 and 45 years old, about 5-foot-7 inches tall and weighing between 220 and 240 pounds.
The man, who only spoke Spanish, was wearing either a black or tan jacket, black pants and a black knitted hat, police said. He has no facial hair and does not wear glasses. He drives a tan or gold-colored old sedan.
