Shootings Wound 7 People Since Monday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have wounded seven people — six of them teenage men or boys — since Monday, police said.

• Most recently, at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday, a 34-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. The man was sitting in his car in the 1500 block of South Sawyer Avenue when a man walked up and fired shots.

The victim was hit in his arm and drove away, police said. He stopped officers and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

• At 11:45 p.m. Monday, an 18-year-old man was shot in Lincoln Park while trying to run from a robbery.

• At 11:45 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards, police said. The man was in the 5200 block of South Peoria Street when he was shot in his left shoulder and right side.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The circumstances of the shooting were still being investigated, police said, and no further information was immediately available.

• At 4:33 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot in Marquette Park, police said. The teen was sitting in a car in the 2800 block of West 64th Street when someone came up and fired shots.

The teen was hit in his neck and took himself to Holy Cross Hospital, police said. He was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

Two persons of interest were being questioned, police said.

• At 9:09 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Marquette Park, police said. The boy was walking in an alley in the 6800 block of South Washtenaw Avenue when a black minivan drove down the alley and almost hit the boy.

Someone in the van then fired shots at the boy and drove away, police said.

The boy was hit in his left leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.

• At 6:59 a.m., a 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy were in the 1600 block of North Austin Boulevard when they were shot, police said.

The boys were hit in their legs, police said.

No one was in custody in the shootings unless otherwise noted.
