MUSEUM CAMPUS — A faux dinosaur park fashioned after the blockbuster "Jurassic World" movies is coming to the Field Museum.

"Jurassic World: The Exhibition" goes beyond fossils to give Field guests a better idea of how dinosaurs roamed the Earth millions of years ago. Promising the "closest simulation of dinosaurs ever created," the touring exhibit will debut May 26 at the Field after shattering attendance records in Philadelphia and abroad.

“One of our goals as a museum is to provide visitors with the best dinosaur experience in the world,” Richard Lariviere, the Field's president, said in a statement.

“Our fossil collections are one of the greatest things about The Field Museum, and the Jurassic World dinosaurs are an incredible way to spark our imaginations about them. After experiencing an animatronic T. rex, you can come inside, witness SUE, and picture what an incredible animal she must have been in real life.”

The exhibit will be housed in a large tent in the front lawn of the Field at 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive. The park will include animatronic dinosaurs, some more than 24 feet tall, a "gentle giants" petting zoo, and other attractions.

The exhibit will stay at the Field till Jan. 7. Jurassic World will be open for two sessions each day: One from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and the other and 5-9 p.m. through Labor Day (with fall evening hours yet to be determined), the Field said.

Tickets will cost $10 for children and $15 for adults for daytime entry, in addition to general Field admission. Evening entry will cost $20 for children and $25 for adults in addition to general admission.
