LOGAN SQUARE — Calling all mixologists and at-home bartenders: The Chicago Cocktail Summit is returning to Logan Square this spring.

The second annual two-day summit, set for April 2-3, will bring together bar and restaurant professionals and enthusiasts alike for a number of workshops, demos and seminars revolving around the art of making cocktails.

The summit was organized by Billy Helmkamp of The Whistler and Erik Westra of Westra & Co. and Maximum Fun, and will be held at the Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave., from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

"We set the bar so high at last year's inaugural Cocktail Summit, but I'm certain we'll surpass that this year. We have some great presenters returning, as well as amazing new additions to the lineup," The Whistler's Helmkamp said in a prepared statement.

This year, ticket-holders can expect programming like the Chicago premiere of the documentary "Bartender At Large" by James Beard Award-winning Erick Castro of San Diego's Polite Provisions, live tapings of The Sporkful podcast with Dan Pashman and Peter Segal of NPR's Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me! and an educational seminar with author and James Beard Award winner David Wondrich.

Like last year's summit, Sunday's program will be geared toward consumers and home cocktail enthusiasts. Events will cover topics like cocktail history, bitters production and drink-making techniques.

Monday's will include more advanced programing on topics such as in-depth spirits analysis, modern bartending techniques and tips on how to run a successful beverage program.

A full-access pass for a single day is $50, which is down significantly from $125 last year. A single session pass for any talk or seminar is $15. Tickets can be bought online.
