LINCOLN SQUARE — The Davis returns to its vaudeville roots Sunday when the theater plays host to its first live show since undergoing extensive renovations in 2016.

Sophia Bush, S. Epatha Merkerson, Amy Morton and several of their fellow female cast mates from "Chicago Fire," "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Med" will take part in a staged reading of the screenplay "Waiting," which examines the "delays, extended intervals and holds in women's lives," according to a description of the event.

The reading begins at 3 p.m. and will be followed by a reception at the theater's companion restaurant, Carbon Arc, 4614 N. Lincoln Ave.

Tickets are $65 per person and include admission to the reading, appetizers and a glass of champagne.

Proceeds from the show will benefit the Piven Theatre Workshop's arts outreach programs for women, specifically female inmates at the Cook County Jail and female clients of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore.

"Waiting" is part of Piven's yearlong The Women's Voices Project — arts programming by and about women.
