LINCOLN SQUARE — For those who can't afford to take the day off on International Women's Day, but have some flexibility in their schedule, Chicago Printmakers Collaborative is offering an option: Spend the day working among other women.
Deborah Maris Lader is throwing open the collaborative's doors at 4912 N. Western Ave from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday as an informal gathering place for women.
"Bring laptops, notebooks, accounting, whatever," Lader posted on Facebook.
"I'll be working on my own stuff, but I figured I'd put on the tea kettle and just open the doors," she said.
She'll also have postcards available for women to use to write notes to members of Congress.
Children are welcome to tag along with their moms, but must be supervised.
