DOUGLAS — Ald. Sophia King (4th) is looking for community members to advise her on developing the former Michael Reese Hospital site.

The city is reviewing proposals for the 114-acre site along the south lakefront just south of McCormick Place. King wants people with a background in economic and community development to help her weigh the options.

She’s asking people interested in serving on the advisory committee to submit to her office, 435 E. 35th St., a statement of interest, resume and two letters of reference. Submissions can be mailed or emailed.

To be considered, people are encouraged live in the ward and must have no plans to make a bid for the site or be employed by a bidding developer.

The deadline for developers to submit proposals was Feb. 22 and the city is expected to pick a team to develop the site on April 6.

Imagine Development has released an outline of its plans for the site, which is broad and will require considerable vetting.

Positions on the committee are voluntary and not paid.

The deadline to apply is March 10.
