COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Logan Square woman is accused of illegally buying two guns, giving one to a felon and reporting both weapons stolen.
According to police, 24-year-old Johandra Falcon on Jan. 8, 2016, arranged to buy two guns from a store in suburban Des Plaines for roughly $1,500. She used false information while completing her application, police said, and picked up the guns Jan. 19.
Falcon is then accused of giving a gun to a convicted felon in Belmont Cragin who police said was a Latin Eagle gang member.
On April 26, 2016, Falcon filed a police report, claiming that someone stole the guns from her apartment in the 2100 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to an arrest report.
Detectives investigating her claim, though, realized she was lying, prosecutors said, and Falcon was arrested about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Prosecutors did not say whether the guns were recovered.
Falcon is charged with filing a false report, unlawful delivery of a gun to a felon and buying a gun with the intent to deliver it to someone who is not allowed to purchase guns legally. All three charges are felonies.
Cook County Judge James Brown on Thursday said Falcon can be released on her own recognizance pending trial so long as she qualifies for electronic monitoring. If not, Falcon will be responsible for $50,000 bail.
